Recruiting for startups is a specialization. This is not the same as recruiting for larger established companies.
We start with a free call to get to know you and your business. We find that almost every business challenge can be solved by recruiting someone to help who's either the person needed, or personally knows the right person. For example, startups and early stage companies need people who know investors. They often find that pitching total strangers rarely works in a timely manner. Or there might be a need for someone with expertise in a sector they're currently lacking, i.e. Management, Licensing, Engineering, Patents, Prototypes, IT, Product Development, Sales, Marketing, Legal. There are many other reasons why startups recruit who they need to avoid or get out of being stuck.
So after the free call, and assuming we both want to proceed on a plan discussed during the appointment, we typically run paid ads targeting our network to find the relevant candidates. We know how to attract the people our clients need to get them unstuck even if the startup is unfunded, has no money for salaries, or needs full/part time help. We generally are able to find multiple people who can accomplish what is needed to get the startup moving in the right direction.

We use various titles to attract the right people. That said, you do not have to offer any of them that specific title. A candidate for CEO might best be a Business Partner. The whole idea is to connect the people who have the right skills, the right background, and the right connections to you.
